REASON:
Snap Captions tried to generate captions but there was no subtitle track on the timeline.
SOLUTION:
To generate captions with Snap Captions, you first need to have your subtitles ready in your timeline. Once you have subtitles, you can use Snap Captions.
What is the difference of Subtitles and Captions?
Subtitles:
- In this context, subtitles are the most basic form of timed transcription of the audio in a video

- In Davinci Resolve, subtitles have a separate track of their own.
To use Snap Captions, the subtitle track must be created before the captions, as Snap Captions generates captions based on the subtitle track.
Captions:
- Captions, are customizable, animated texts that you can style however you’d like.

- Captions do not have a track of their own, instead, they are placed in the regular video tracks.
How to generate subtitles?
Snap Captions doesn’t create subtitles with text and timing. You can generate subtitles through Resolve Studio or use a third party program if you do not have the Studio version.

HOT TIP - It’s good practice to correct your subtitles in the subtitle track before using the Snap Captions plugin. Doing this will make it super easy to switch to another captions template if you need to make changes later. You’ll always have your corrected subtitles ready to go, saving you time and hassle!
