Snap Pod Controls Explained

Snap Pod Controls Explained

Hey there, editors! Ready to master Snap Pod’s controls in DaVinci Resolve? This guide breaks down every button, setting, and feature so you can harness its auto-editing power like a pro. Let’s explore!

The Auto Edit Functions

These controls are the core of Snap Pod’s auto-editing power. Let’s break them down:

Auto Edit

Hit this button, and Snap Pod does it all—analyzing your audio and cutting your podcast in one go. You’ll likely press it at least once every session.

Analyse Audio

This handles the first half of Auto Edit. Snap Pod dives into your audio tracks, prepping them for editing. Think of it as laying the groundwork so you’re ready to roll.

Update Cuts

Already analyzed your audio? Update Cuts jumps straight to editing, applying cuts based on that prep work. It’s perfect for tweaking settings fast—no need to re-analyze every time you adjust something small. Experiment away!

The Video Track Selector

This section tells Snap Pod how your timeline is set up. Here’s the breakdown:

1. Video & Audio Selector

Match each video track to its corresponding audio track (e.g., Speaker 1’s close-up to their mic). You’ll need at least two video-audio pairs for Snap Pod to work its magic.

2. Wide Angle

Wide-angle shots are optional but add variety. If you’ve got one, assign its track here

3. +Camera & +Wide Angle Buttons

Need more? These buttons let you add extra cameras to your auto-edit setup for more speakers.

Edit Modes

This setting tweak how Snap Pod arranges your tracks in the final edit.

Edit Modes Explained

Advanced Settings

The advanced settings are all about getting your podcast, edited in the style you want.

Presets

Found your perfect setup? Save it as a preset! You can even export it to share with your team—collaboration made simple.

Ignore Cuts

Sometimes a cough, “hmm,” or quick “okay” shouldn’t trigger a cut.

Ignore Cuts lets you set a minimum speaking duration (e.g., 2 seconds) before Snap Pod switches cameras, keeping your edit smooth and intentional.

Cut Timing

Prefer cuts that land a bit early or late? Adjust Cut Timing to match your style—whether you want snappy transitions or a more relaxed pace.

Silence Deletion

Big gaps in conversation? This tool trims them out automatically. Personally, I like manually handling silence—those quiet moments after a profound statement can speak volumes. But if you’d rather zap them away, this setting’s here for you!

Wide Angle Frequency

Control how often Snap Pod uses your wide shot:

Low - Will try every couple of minutes

Medium - Will try every 30 seconds

High - Will try every 15 seconds.

Preference Menu

The Preference menu is accessed by pressing this cogwheel here.

Leave Markers At Ignored Cuts

Snap Pod makes tons of decisions when editing.

Enable this, and it’ll drop markers at tricky spots, so you can jump in and tweak them manually.

Noise Floor

Set a loudness threshold (e.g., -30 dB) to ignore background noise—like car hums or mic bleed. Super handy for podcasts recorded in lively environments!

Anything below this volume, Snap Pod will ignore completely.

Wide Angle Max Duration

Love wide shots but don’t want them overstaying? Cap their length here (e.g., 15 seconds max) for a balanced edit.

Save Default Track Layout

Got a go-to setup—like two close-ups and a wide angle? Save it in the Preference Menu, and Snap Pod will load it every time you start. No more repetitive setup 👍.
