utf8 Module Failed to Load

utf8 Module Failed to Load

🗂️
REASON: 1. There is a missing file (utf8) due to manual installing without placing utf8 to the right folder OR 2. The file location is security protected and the plugin can’t install properly
💡
SOLUTION: 1. Grab the file named utf8_snapcaptions from the zip folder and place it in the location below:

For Windows

%APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Modules\Lua

For Mac

/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Modules/Lua

☝
Missing folder/ Sometimes, when DaVinci Resolve installs, some folders aren’t created. We’re not sure why 🤷‍♂️. No worries though!

If you have any missing folder (e.g., modules, lua, etc.), you can create the folder (using the same name) yourself and copy the utf8 file inside

2. Unlock the security protected folder and reinstall

Sometime your computer may have security settings that make Snap Captions unable to access the necessary folders. While it’s hard to tell if this is the case for some people, it can be worth giving a shot if the above didn’t solve your problems.

For Windows

  1. Log in as administrator
  2. Right-click on the file → Properties → Security
  3. Modify the permissions

For Mac

  1. Refer to this page: https://support.apple.com/lv-lv/guide/mac-help/mchlp1204/14.0/mac/14.0
