Uninstalling Snap Animate Free

Snap Animate Free is not a normal macro. It installs as a Fusion plugin, and any project that uses it depends on that plugin being present.
If you uninstall it, projects that used it will break. Specifically:
- Every time you open a project that had Snap Animate Free applied, you'll get missing node warnings.
- The effect will no longer render.
- If you save that project after uninstalling, you may permanently lose the settings for every Snap Animate Free effect in it.
For that reason, we generally recommend just leaving it installed. It sits quietly and costs you nothing.
If you only want it out of the way visually, let us know — hiding the free version from the UI without uninstalling is something we're looking at.
Before you uninstall
- Finish any project that uses Snap Animate Free first.
- Back up any project files that use it.
- Understand that the settings on existing Snap Animate Free effects are not recoverable once a project has been saved without the plugin installed.
How to uninstall
- In Fusion, add a Snap Animate (Easing) node. Choose the one that says "Free version" at the top when you add it — if you have more than one Snap Animate version installed, it may take a couple of tries to land on the right one.
- In the Inspector, right-click the node's title and choose Open Plugin Folder.
- Quit DaVinci Resolve completely. Do not skip this — the files are in use while the app is open.
- In the folder that opened, delete
SnapAnimateFree.plugin. - Go up one or two directories until you're in the folder called
Fusion. - Open the
Templatesfolder, findSnapAnimateFree.drfx, and delete it. - Reopen DaVinci Resolve.
Snap Animate Free is now removed. Paid versions of Snap Animate, and any other Snap Plugins you have installed, are unaffected.
FAQ
Does it break the whole project, or just the timeline that used it? The warnings appear whenever you load a project that contained Snap Animate Free, so treat it as project-wide. Even if the damage were limited to a single timeline, it isn't worth the risk — wait until you're done with the project, or work from a backup.
Can I reinstall it later? Yes. Reinstalling restores the plugin, but it won't recover effect settings that were lost by saving a project while the plugin was missing.
