Adding Caption Template Packs To Snap Captions
- Open Snap Captions
- Workspace > Scripts > Comp > Snap Captions
- Switch to the Settings tab
- Click on the Install button under Library Management.
Library Management is where your caption template packs will be stored.
- Select the folder that has the .drb file of the caption template pack you want to install.
If you are using one of our packs (Clean Pack or Creator Pack), please make sure the file is unzipped before selecting the folder. You do not need to select the .drb file itself. Choose the folder that holds the .drb, and Snap Captions will locate it.
- Snap Captions will list the Caption Packs within the folder you have selected.
- Select the packs you want to add to your library.
- Click on Add Selected Packs
- Click on Add Pack To Project
- Back in the Controls tab, the caption pack will be listed and ready to use in your library.
How To Create Your Own Templates To Snap Captions
Our plugin can use any template text+ element of your desire. You may want to create your own text+ element and use it with Snap Captions. Here is how you can do it:
- Create the text+ element however you like.
- Click on the text+ on your timeline and drag it to your Snap Captions folder.
- You can name it however you like if you want and it’s ready to use with Snap Captions.
Now that we have everything ready to use Snap Captions, let’s get into how to actually get it to work.
How To Use Snap Captions
Generate subtitles
- The first step of using Snap Captions is generating a subtitle track.
- Snap Captions doesn’t create subtitles with text and timing. Resolve already has a built-in function that can automatically create subtitles from audio.
- Click on Timeline → Create Subtitles from Audio
- Choose the settings that you want and click Create.
- You will end up with a subtitle track above at the top of your timeline

- Now that you have corrected your subtitles, go to Workspace → Scripts → Comp → Snap Captions
- Snap Captions will pop up
- Choose the correct Subtitle track, the text+ element you want to use and the other settings as well and hit Generate.
- You will end up with a new track with the style of the text+ element that you chose.
And now you know how to actually use Snap Captions!
Using Snap Captions For Only A Portion Of Your Video
It’s easily possible to use Snap Captions for only some portions of your video.
- To do this, you can use in and out points.
- Go to the beginning of where you want to start using Snap Captions and hit I (stands for in) on your keyboard.
- Then go to where you want it to end and hit O (stands for out)
- You will see in and out points appear.
- If you run Snap Captions with the in and out points, only that section is going to be affected.
How To Use Snap Captions Without Resolve Studio
If you do not own Davinci Resolve Studio, you will not be able to use its Create Subtitles from Audio feature. But there are other ways you can generate a subtitle track with automatically generated subtitles for free. As an alternative to Davinci Resolve Studio, Riverside is a trustworthy option:

Riverside has an unlimited transcription feature that allows you to create subtitles for your files for free.
- Go to Riverside Transcription.
- Click on Transcribe Now and upload your file.
- Once your transcription is ready, you will be able to download it.
- Click on Download and choose Captions.
- You can grab the downloaded SRT file and drop it straight to your timeline in Resolve.
- You are now ready to use Snap Captions.
