If that doesn’t work you can manually install Snap Captions into Davinci Resolve as detailed below.
Manual Installation
Drag the Lua File into the resolve directory
For Windows
- %APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Scripts\Comp
For Mac
- /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Scripts/Comp
Drag the UTF8 into the Resolve directory
For Windows
%APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Modules\Lua
For Mac
/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Modules/Lua
03 - Double check the plugin is installed correctly
- Open up Davinci Resolve
- Go to:
- Workspace > Scripts > Comp > Snap Captions
- The plugin should load up
Install the fonts from the Template Project
You will find the fonts already downloaded with your Template Project folder.
Or, download them here:
Next, you will need to install them.
How To Install Fonts
For Windows
- Open Clean Pack V02.01 - FONTS
- Highlight all of the fonts
- Right click and hit install
For Mac
- Open Clean Pack V02.01 - FONTS
- Open your Font Book (Finder > Applications > Font Book)
- Highlight all of the fonts and drag and drop them into the Font Book
You might need to restart DaVinci Resolve for the fonts to be visible in the program.
Optional - Practice With Template Project
It’s important to have a folder called “Snap Captions” (case sensitive) in your Davinci Resolve project file with your template text+ elements in it for Snap Captions to work.
We’ve already created the bin in the template project with the caption templates from our Snap Captions Clean Pack.
So you can go straight to the Practice Timeline, generate subtitles and then use Snap Captions.
