If your captions:
- Have gaps between them
- Start later than they should
- Overlapping
Then the most likely cause is that the caption’s FPS doesn’t match your timeline’s FPS.
We’re actively sharing this information with DaVinci Resolve to help make both DaVinci and Snap Captions more reliable.
How to fix this:
- Which ever caption template you want to use, load it into your media pool.
- Drag it onto the timeline
- Drag it back into the bin (Media Pool)
- (Optional) - Delete the original caption in the media pool to avoid confusion
📒 For those curious why we do this. What we’ve effectively done is converted the caption template to match the timeline FPS.
- In Snap Captions 2, use the bin method to select your template.
DONE!
Your captions should now generate perfectly in line with your timeline.
If the above doesn’t work, this might:
Step 01 - Check your Timeline FPS
- Right-click on your timeline
- Hover over “Timeline” drop down
- And select Timeline Settings.
- Note down the Timeline Frame Rate shown here.
Step 02 – Update Your Project FPS Preferences
- Click the cog icon in the bottom-right corner to open Project Settings.
- Go to the Master Settings tab.
- Change the Timeline Frame Rate so it matches the frame rate you noted earlier.
Step 03 – Restart DaVinci Resolve
Finally, restart DaVinci Resolve to ensure these changes take effect.
