V2.1.4
Big Changes To Snap Captions 2
We’ve changed a fundamental background process in Snap Captions 2, to handle Resolve updates more elegantly so you don’t have to update as frequently in the future.
Old Method
In the old version of Snap Captions, the method for generating captions was:
1 - We would directly apply the text+ clip onto the timeline directly
While this is how Snap Captions has worked since the Snap Captions 1, this isn’t how Resolve expects templates to be handled, which has caused a slew of Resolve updates breaking Snap Captions, causing frequent patch updates.
New Method
With Snap Captions 1.4 onwards, you’ll notice a new change to what’s stored in the bin.
You’ll see we automatically bring supported FPS into the Snap Captions bin.
So now, when generating captions, our process works like this in the backend.
- We take the existing template you have, and convert it into a .setting file (Resolve’s preferred support method).
- We apply those settings to an FPS template that matches your timeline.
- We then generate the newly converted caption onto your timeline.
This provides various benefits:
- Much more accurate timing of caption timings.
- Seamless transition between different FPS timelines.
- Far less issues, glitches and breaking fusion compositions as you update Snap Captions.
